Jeep Wrangler JK's at the 2012 King of the Hammers race

Jeep Wrangler JKs were again the dominant vehicles at this year's King of the Hammers race.  The lakebed was flooded with JKs of all shapes and sizes - if you wanted to see any possible combination of suspension, bumpers, and other mods, KOH is the place to do it!

I mentioned in an earlier blog entry that Off Road Evolution was competing in the 2012 King of the Hammers race in their Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.  Here are two videos from the race:

The actual start of the race:

It was really cool to see EVO's street-legal JKU competing against unlimited-budget, V8-powered, purpose-built rock racing buggies with its off-the-shelf aftermarket parts and modest 3.8-liter V6.  They didn't cross the finish line before the 14-hour race cutoff so they were officially a timed-out DNF but they did a great job of showing just how capable a well-built JK can be.  You can see more photos from Off Road Evolution's race here.

Here are a few photos I took of other JK's on display in Vendor Row at Hammertown:

I came home with plenty of good ideas for my own Jeep.  After seeing all these well-built JKs, I can't wait to get started on my own!
